Content Quality Checklist
for Georgia Tech
Great content builds trust, strengthens the Georgia Tech brand, and ensures stories that resonate with the audiences we serve.
The GT Content Quality Checklist is a simple, practical tool to help campus communicators pause before publishing to ensure that their content is clear, engaging, accessible, and aligned with Institute standards.
"Before you hit publish."
Use the following content quality checklist to ensure consistently high-quality posts.
Adjust your posts until all responses are favorable.
A. The 10-Second Gut Check
Before posting, ask yourself:
- Would I stop scrolling to engage with this content?
- Is the main point clear in the first line?
- Can I clearly identify an intended audience and why that audience would care?
- Does this feel human or generic, automated, or impersonal?

B. Visual Quality Standards
Before posting, ask yourself:
- Does the image/video add value?
- Is there a clear subject?
- Is the lighting crisp?
- Is the image cropped with intentionality?
- Is there appropriate branding where applicable?
- Have I avoided:
- Screenshots of photos/text?
- A poster-only approach to posting (bulletin board content)?
- Overdesigned graphics with tiny text?
C. Caption Quality Checklist
Before posting, ask yourself:
- Does my first line have a hook?
- Is the caption pithy, conversational, yet informative?
- If your caption reads like a news article. Rewrite it.
- Have I used line breaks (especially on IG)?
- Does the communication have a clear purpose?
- Have I avoided the use of trite, hackneyed ledes (e.g., “We are pleased to announce …”)?
The faces behind Georgia Tech are the reason it all works.
Today, we celebrate the employees who make Georgia Tech what it is. Your work shapes our campus, supports our students, and keeps the Institute buzzing. Happy Employee Appreciation Day. 🐝 #EmployeeAppreciationDay #YouBelongAtTech
D. Brand and Tone Guardrails
Before posting, ask yourself:
- Is my tone confident but not stuffy?
- Am I communicating pride rather than arrogance?
- Have I sacrificed clarity for cleverness?
